President of the People, by the People

In the country like India, democracy should be multifold, i.e. the President, the Governors and the Rajya sabha members should be selected directly by the people of India at the National level.
The Lok sabha election is mainly Party and Region based. Residing Population of a region/ locality selects their leader, which then represents it.
The Presidents, Rajya sabha members, Governor’s election should be mainly Personality based.  The national Role Model Personality which is supported by most of the Indians, NRI’s and the Indian Migrating citizens (multi state and multi nation)!. 1st citizen should be directly selected by the citizens of India.  When the President is "down to earth", than only the other Netas and Babus comes closer to the common citizens.
At the time, when the members of Lok sabha are not in the position to rule the country (no clear mandate to one party), the President should rule the country along with the elected Rajya sabha members and the Lok sabha members, till the next election. This will save expenditure over elections and will benefit the country. Also the Indian Governance will get variety.
The people elected President and Rajya sabha members will have to take up those regions/sectors which have not grown/developed at par with the other region/sector and are lagging behind.  They will also have to handle the neglected resources, including the neglected human resource.
The country needs several leaders, with National Identity and who are beyond any region and party. The leader who empathizes with the Tax payers is required, who will help them to form an association to see that the government is efficiently utilizing their money and not wasting it on their “whim and fancy” and unnecessary “Show”/ “Extravaganza”, and that they are not Over taxed. The leader who tries to achieve egalitarian society, reducing the Gini Index is required. (At present purely in terms of salary, 1 cabinet secretary ≡ 1Member of Parliament ≡ 26 common citizens (Daily wage labors)).
The President of India should have or try to have the communicable knowledge of Sanskrit language (Greek President greets Kalam in Sanskrit : Sumir Kaul in Athens, PTI,  April 27, 2007,10:23 IST : “It was a pleasant surprise for President A P J Abdul Kalam when his Greek counterpart Karolos Papoulias greeted him in Sanskrit at the banquet ceremony hosted in honour of the visiting dignitary.
"Rashtrapatm Mahabhaga, sur swagatam yavana dishe (राष्ट्रपतम् महाभागा, सुर स्वागतम् यवना देशे) (Mr President, welcome to you)," the Greek President said at the start of his speech at the banquet hosted at the Presidential palace on Thursday night, much to the delight of the Indian delegation.
Papoulias had studied Sanskrit in Germany and the reason to study the Indian classical language was to understand India better.
"I wanted to welcome you in Sanskrit, the ancient Indian language that is related to ancient Greek, and which I had the opportunity to learn and love during my time as a student in Germany," the Greek President said. ……….)
